Jacksonville International Airport


JAX The airport is situated 15 miles (24km) north of Jacksonville. Travel time to downtown is around 20 minutes. This airport serves the Jacksonville area. Six million passengers flew through the airport in 2006. The airport handled almost 120,000 aircraft operations in 2006. The airport has five one terminals with three concourses (A, B, and C). The airport has 2 runways. The runways are from 7,700 feet to 10,000 feet in length. Airport construction started in 1965 and was opened for service in 1968. The airport was officially named after the city of Jacksonville. The airport can be reached from the centre of Jacksonville by taking the I-95 to Airport Road (exit 363-B), and taking the westbound signposted route to the terminal. Road access from Georgia and St Augustine is also via the I-95. There is a free Courtesy parking lot. The convenient parking option is the Hourly parking is located right in front of the Terminal, which is $1.50 per half hour. The ‘Daily Garage’ is from $1.50 per half hour with a daily maximum rate of $11 per day. Economy Parking is $4 per day. Food options include Frankly Gourmet, Sbarros the Italian Eatery, Shipyard Brewery, Starbucks Coffee, Cinnabon, etc.
If an item is lost in the aircraft or in the gate seating area you have to contact the airline’s Lost & Found Department. If an item is lost at the security checkpoint, call 904-380-4069. If it is lost in the terminal, contact the JAA’s Lost & Found Office at (904) 741-2022. Office hours are Monday – Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. The airport does not have a chapel. News and Gift Shops, available on each concourse, offer newspapers, magazines, gifts, and convenience items for the traveling public.
